Off The Beaten Trail Treks
ImagePanch Pokhari Trek
Trek duration: 11 nights / 12 days
Difficulty:
Moderate

Just northeast of Kathmandu in the shadows of the Jugal mountains - Dorje Lakpa, Madiya and Purbi Chyachu lies this classic off the beaten trail. Despite it's close proximity from Kathmandu the villages inhabited by Tamang and Sherpa people are very isolated.

From the fishing town of Dalolghat we take the jeep road to the bazaar of Chautara. From there we begin our trek heading north, entering Langtang National Park, haven of the Red Panda, Thar, Barking Deer, Wild Boar, Himalayan Black Bear and the Snow Leopard.

ImageAs we travel from villages to alpine pastures we get even closer to the massifs whose views are simply breathtaking.

This pilgrim route if continued north leads you to the 5 sacred ponds that lies at an elevation of 15,000 ft.

Blessed and rejuvenated by our achievement we descend to the warm rice growing Indrawati valley to ascend for the final time to the very welcoming Buddhist Monastery - Bagam Ghyang, nestled in a deep and isolated magnolia forest.

Finally finishing at the busy Malemchi Pul Bazar, a town at the end of the road head, a confluence of rivers and home of the Paradise Flycatchers.
