Trek duration: 4 nights / 5 days Difficulty: Gentle With the Annapurna range as a backdrop, only a mere 5 km away as the crow flies, Pokhara city literally sits on the lap of these mountains on a warm green valley facing south. In the West End of this metropolis is the tranquil Phewa Lake with it's waters reflecting the summits adding even more charm. Leaving the humdrum of the city you climb up the very typical stone steps to the village of Bhumdi on the ridge with views of Phewa Lake. We camp amidst rice fields in this warm and friendly Gurung and Brahmin village, with undisturbed views of Dhaulagiri, Nilgiris, Annapurnas, Machapucchare, Lamjung and Manaslu mountains. All along the route on clear days you will be able to see stunning views of the mountains. You then trek through a chestnut forest while catching glimpses of the snowy peaks through the trees till you arrive at the saddle of the Panchase Hill. This is a wonderful viewpoint and a site of an ancient Hermitage. Through more terraced fields and villages you descend to the Harpan river valley to the western shores of the Phewa Lake. The 2 hr boat ride across the length of the Phewa is a fantastic finish to this trek.
